Charlie Rowe, APE, LBS1
Founder
Charlie received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Northern Illinois University. While working towards his BS, he received his Adapted Physical Education approval. He believed this would be the perfect career choice to join his love of education, passion for physical activity and enjoyment of working with children with diverse abilities. Charlie then went on to receive his Learning Behavior Specialist endorsement from the University of St. Francis.
Charlie has provided a variety of services to support 150+ Illinois schools. These include: teaching self-contained, Reverse Inclusion Adapted PE classes, Coaching to PE/Adapted PE teachers, Program Improvement consultations, and PD training.
Charlie is a member of the following professional organizations: IAASE, IAHPERD, ICAPE, IAPSEC and SEA-PAC.
Charlie and his wife Julie have two sons, Collin and Dylan. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and pretty much any outdoor activity.
Danielle Blocker, M.S. Ed, APE
Danielle is in her eight year as an APE at Adaptability. Danielle recevied her undergraduate degree with honors in Physical Education from Elmhurst College. She then went on to receive her Masters degree from Northern Illinois University while working as a Graduate Assistant for the KNPE program. During this time, Danielle was a member of Golden Key International Honor Society.
In addition to providing Adapted Physical Education services, Danielle has published an article in the JOPERD and presented at the IAHPERD state convention and DuPage Institute.
In her spare time, Danielle enjoys traveling and being active outdoors. She also loves to coach her students in variety of Special Olympic events.
John Snee, APE, LBS1
Lead APE, Mentor
John is in his seventh year as an APE as Adaptability. John graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Park University in Physical Education with his Adapted Physical Education approval. John then went on to receive his Learning Behavior Specialist 1 and Health endorsements.
Prior to joining Adaptability, John taught Adapted Physical Education, general Physical Education and Special Education at the high school level and at a transitional school. John has presented at the IAHPERD state convention and DuPage Institute.
In his spare time, John coaches Cross Country and Track and Field and enjoys spending time watching local Special Olympics events.
Camille Hicks, M.Ed, APE, LBS1
Camille is in her third year as an APE at Adaptability. Camille received her B.S. in Special Education at Eastern Illinois University. She then went on to receive her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. After 14 years as a Special Education teacher, Camille’s passion shifted to becoming an Adapted PE teacher. Camille then went on to receive her Physical Education Endorsement at MVCC.
In her spare time, Camille loves spending time with her family, which includes her daughter and two dogs. She also enjoys Yoga and exercising.
Alex Ochoa, APE
Alejandra is in her first year as an APE at Adaptability. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and obtained her Adapted PE certification as well. Prior to joining Adaptability, Alex had 3 years experience in teaching PE, Adapted PE, Leadership and Special Education. She has also coached and organized various special olympic events.
When not teaching, you can find Alejandra traveling, engaging in various sports, enjoying time outside, and spending time with friends and family.
Joey Quirk, APE
Joey is in his first year as an APE at Adaptability. In the Spring, Joey graduated from Northern Illinois University with his Physical Education degree as well as his Adapted PE approval.
Outside of the classroom, you can find Joey spending a lot of time at the gym exercising.
Julie Rowe, PT, DPT
Julie covers administrative roles within Adaptability on a part time basis. Julie graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Julie works as a school based Physical Therapist for a local Special Education Cooperative.
