School Partnerships
Adaptability contracts Adapted PE teachers to public schools in the South, Southwest and West Chicagoland suburbs. Our ISBE licensed Adapted PE teachers come on site to provide Adapted PE classes and services. We pride ourselves on creating a positive learning environment, while teaching fun and engaging lessons! Our focus is building off of student strengths.
Our Adapted PE services can be provided the following ways:
Reverse Inclusion Adapted PE-
If our students with disabilities are unable to be safely and successfully mainstreamed into the general Physical Education curriculum, we will implement a highly structured Adapted PE program. Our classes promote peer-to-peer socialization among typical developing peers from the school.
Self-contained Adapted PE-
If Reverse Inclusion is not the Least Restrictive Environment, or does not work with scheduling, our classes will be taught in a highly structured self contained model. Our lessons are built off of our students strengths!
Consultation via coaching-
If a student with a disability attends general Physical Education, our Adapted PE teacher will provide coaching to the student’s PE teacher and paraprofessional(s) that may attend class. This in order to provide strategies, accommodations and modifications that can be made to the curriculum. This service allows for the PE teacher and paraprofessional(s) to better provide for their students in an Inclusion setting while helping them to differentiate their instruction.
