Adaptability contracts Adapted Physical Education teachers to schools in the Western, Southwestern and Southern Chicagoland suburbs. Our ISBE licensed teachers deliver on-site, high quality Adapted PE services to help every student succeed! We pride ourselves on creating a positive learning environment, while teaching fun and engaging lessons. Our focus is building off of student strengths. The Adapted PE services we can provide are below.
Reverse Inclusion Adapted PE classes:
If general Physical Education is not the least restrictive environment, our APE teacher will implement a highly structured Adapted PE program. Peer Buddies push into our classes to promote modeling and peer-to-peer socialization.
Self-contained Adapted PE classes:
If Reverse Inclusion is not the Least Restrictive Environment, or does not work with scheduling, our APE teacher will teach highly structured classes in small group setting. Our lessons are built off of our students strengths!
One to one Adapted PE services:
Our APE teacher will push in to the students general Physical Education class. During this time, we work directly with the student to ensure they are provided the direction and support they need for safe and successful inclusion.
Teacher Consultation:
If a student with a disability attends general Physical Education, our APE teacher will provide coaching to the student’s PE teacher and paraprofessional(s) that may attend class. This in order to provide strategies, accommodations and modifications that can be made to the curriculum. This service allows for the PE teacher and paraprofessional(s) to better provide for their students in an Inclusion setting while helping them to differentiate their instruction.
